Marshall F. (Marty) Emery

Acting Director, National Postal Museum

Marshall F. (Marty) Emery is the acting director of the Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum. Previously, he was the manager of public relations and internet affairs at the museum, where he led all marketing and communications activities and managed the museum’s online communications channels.

Before coming to the Smithsonian, Emery spent 25 years with the U.S. Postal Service. His service included multiple executive-level appointments for a 10-year period in product marketing, product development, marketing integration and performance analysis. He also held positions in strategic planning, finance and quality control. His work includes creating award-winning marketing campaigns and managing executive-level task forces and major-project planning and administration.

Emery holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland at College Park and completed executive-development training at Columbia University.
