Smithsonian Journeys

August 1, 2014

Established in 1970, Smithsonian Journeys tours engage travelers in the wide-ranging mission of the Smithsonian. Like the Institution, Journeys’ tours enrich guests’ lives and satisfy their curiosity about the world around them. Participation in a Smithsonian Journeys tour benefits the work of the Smithsonian’s 19 museums, national zoo and nine research centers, helping to preserve national treasures and shape the future through science, research and exhibitions.

A world leader in expert-led travel, Smithsonian Journeys offers more than 200 land and cruise journeys on all seven continents. Smithsonian Journeys tours feature exclusive access and unforgettable experiences, uncovering the authentic culture of each destination and providing access unavailable to most travelers. The Smithsonian Journeys tour collection includes small-group (18–24 travelers), air-inclusive tours, small-ship cruising, intergenerational family travel, luxury private jet experiences, and tailor-made travel options.
