Smithsonian Museums Reopen to the Public

The Smithsonian museums will reopen at their regularly scheduled times Thursday, Oct. 17, following the 16-day government shutdown. The cafeterias, shops and IMAX theaters also will be open. A complete list of museum hours is available on the Smithsonian’s website.

The National Zoo will reopen to the public and the media at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18. The panda cam and all animal cameras should be live early Thursday afternoon. The Zoo will issue a news release Thursday with photos and a video of the giant panda cub’s growth and activities during the past two weeks.
