The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian opens its Native Cinema Showcase Tuesday, Aug. 14, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with Dawnland, a film that centers on decades of repercussions of child-welfare practices that have removed Native children from their homes.
