Artist Cornelia Kubler Kavanagh, pictured above, and the research of biological oceanographer Gareth Lawson at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution bring the plight of sea butterflies facing ocean acidification to light with larger than life sculptures in “Fragile Beauty: The Art & Science of Sea Butterflies.” The exhibition opens Sept. 17, 2013 at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. in celebration of the fifth anniversary of the Sant Ocean Hall.
