This banner, made at the time of Thomas Jefferson's 1801 inauguration,
was used by jubilant Democratic-Republicans  to celebrate Jefferson's election and the defeat of John Adams and the Federalist Party. This hand-painted banner proclaims: "T. Jefferson President of the United States of America/John Adams is no more."
