The Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden announced today the reopening of its popular Dolcezza Pop-up Café @ Hirshhorn. This unique, art-filled outpost of Washington, D.C.’s Dolcezza Gelato & Coffee is located on the museum’s outdoor plaza, and its newly expanded menu offers the only locally crafted gelato and nitro cold brew on the National Mall.

On Sunday, July 16, Hirshhorn and Dolcezza will celebrate National Ice Cream Day and the pop-up café’s reopening by offering gelato push-pops, its most popular menu item, for just $1. Flavors include dark chocolate gelato, blueberry lemonade sorbet and yellow peach Southern Comfort sorbet.

Open 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m., the pop-up café invites visitors to relax with handcrafted treats and coffee drinks next to the museum’s celebrated fountain. The new location features outdoor covered seating, free Smithsonian Wi-Fi and a colorful industrial chic exterior painted by Washington-based street artist and muralist Kelly Towles. In addition to nitro cold brew and daily-made gelato push-pops and soft serve, the expanded menu includes Bluebird Bakery pastries, drip and pour-over coffee, cold brew coffee and espresso drinks.

Federal employees and Hirshhorn Members enjoy a 10 percent discount with appropriate ID.

First opened as a temporary coffee-shop destination during the exhibition “Yayoi Kusama: Infinity Mirrors,” Dolcezza Pop-up Café @ Hirshhorn’s relaunch is part of the museum’s continued dedication to creating a welcoming visitor experience.
