National Museum of African American History and Culture Announces Walk-Up Weekdays in September

Following Walk-Up Wednesdays in April and May, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture has announced Walk-Up Weekdays in September. Individuals may enter the museum on a first-come, first-served basis Monday through Friday for the entire month of September. Timed-entry passes for individuals will only be required on Saturdays and Sundays in September. Walk-up entry in September is a continuation of a pilot to test no-pass entry.

On Wednesday, June 6, at 9 a.m. ET, the museum will distribute advance timed-entry passes for Saturdays and Sundays Sept. 8 and 9, 15 and 16, 22 and 23, and 29 and 30. Timed passes will not be distributed for weekdays (Mondays–Fridays) in September. Information on how to obtain passes can be found at www.nmaahc.si.edu/visit/passes

Required Group Passes in September

  • The museum will continue to require advance timed passes for groups of 10 or more every day in September.
  • All groups are required to present passes to gain entry to the museum through a designated entrance.

No Same-Day Online and Walk-up Timed-Entry Passes Weekdays in September

  • Same-day online and walk-up timed-entry passes will not be available on weekdays in September.
