Smithsonian Associates presents “Scandal-ous!” Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m. in the University of the District of Columbia’s Auditorium at 4200 Connecticut Ave. N.W. Members of the cast and executive producers of ABC’s hit series Scandal will discuss the latest happenings on the show, how closely storylines mirror the real Washington and where the creators draw inspiration for their characters. The event also includes a screening of the show’s latest episode.

Although Washingtonians know what real-life political drama looks like, they still cannot get enough of the fictional (and spicier) version on Scandal. Along with millions of other gladiators around the world, they look forward to Thursday nights (#TGIT), to escape to a world where Fitz Grant is in the White House and D.C. fixer Olivia Pope is untangling the latest crisis.

Along with the popcorn and red wine, Washingtonians bring something else to their viewing experience: a keen eye for what Scandal gets right about their town and a special appreciation for seeing themselves reflected on the small screen.

The series stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, Guillermo Diaz as Huck, Darby Stanchfield as Abby Whelan, Katie Lowes as Quinn Perkins, Tony Goldwyn as President Fitzgerald Grant, Jeff Perry as Cyrus, Bellamy Young as First Lady Mellie Grant, Joshua Malina as David Rosen, Scott Foley as Jake Ballard, Portia De Rossi as Elizabeth North, Cornelius Smith Jr. as Marcus Walker and Joe Morton as Eli Pope. The series is created by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s AnatomyHow to Get Away with Murder). Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers (Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder), Mark Wilding and Tom Verica are executive producers. Scandal is produced by ABC Studios and airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

Ticket prices for the Smithsonian Associates’ presentation are $50 for general admission and $35 for Associate members. For tickets and information, the public may call (202) 633-3030 or visit www.smithsonianassociates.org.
